What it is

GROHE kitchen faucets cover pull-down and pull-out sprays, touchless, bar faucets, semi-pro spring-neck units and pot fillers. Concetto, Essence and Minta are the commonly stocked Canadian collections.

What it does for your home

The difference you feel every day is the cartridge. GROHE uses a ceramic disc cartridge, which is why the handle moves the way it does when the tap is new — and why it still moves that way in year eight. Most kitchen tap call-outs we attend are a stiff or dripping handle on a cheaper cartridge that has worn out.

What it needs to be installed properly

Check the number of holes in your sink or counter before ordering, and check the clearance behind the tap if you have a window that opens over the sink — a tall spout and a casement window are a common and annoying collision. Pull-down sprays need room below for the hose and counterweight to travel.

Who it suits — and who it does not

Worth the money in a kitchen that gets used properly every day. A pot filler is a genuine convenience if you cook with large pots, and a permanent water line over your stove if you do not — decide that one before the wall closes.
