Farmhouse Country Kitchen Mechanical Overhaul
The Project Overview:
We partnered with a homeowner in South Langley to bring a classic country aesthetic into the 21st century. This wasn’t just a surface-level update; the project involved relocating the main sink to an island, installing a traditional pot filler, and integrating a massive apron-front farmhouse sink.
The Solution:
Country kitchens often feature heavy, oversized fixtures that require expert installation to avoid future leaks or structural sagging:
Apron-Front (Farmhouse) Sink: We installed a 150lb fireclay sink. This required precision-leveled support framing within the cabinetry and a specialized extended-flange drain assembly to ensure a watertight seal through the thick basin.
Island Plumbing Relocation: To move the sink to the center of the room, we rerouted the drain and vent lines through the floor, utilizing a “Bow Vent” (or Island Vent) system to ensure proper drainage without a visible pipe sticking up through the island.
Stove-Side Pot Filler: We ran a dedicated cold-water line to the range area and installed a dual-jointed pot filler. We used a brass-to-PEX transition with high-pressure testing to ensure zero leaks behind the new custom backsplash.
High-End Bridge Faucet: Installed a traditional bridge-style faucet with a side sprayer. We used solid brass mounting hardware to prevent the “wobble” often found in DIY kitchen installs.
GENERAL OVERVIEW
The Result:
The kitchen achieved a perfect “Modern Farmhouse” look while functioning with industrial-grade reliability. The plumbing is discreet, quiet, and designed to handle the heavy-duty needs of a busy family kitchen.
